Scans scans scans



Since the last update I've had a second opinion from a really nice oncologist who was happy to answer all my questions and said he will be happy to give a second opinion any time. Yay! The MRI and PET didn't show anything new which is a relief so I'm doing additional testing to see if I'm eligible for the trial. The biopsy material has been sent to the USA for testing so this will take quite some time. Meanwhile I'm doing all the other tests - EKG, heart ultrasound, blood tests x lots, digging up old medical history and reports, bone scan, more MRIs, so many MRIs.... 

Still enjoying running lots and riding my bike in the meantime, and planning on spending lots of fun times with the kids these holidays.

  Hi all, I've been meaning to make this for a while now so that there is a central place for my health updates for those who want to be kept in the loop. I'd been waiting until I know my treatment plan but it's been several weeks now and still waiting on answers. I thought it would be easiest to keep people updated here in one central location and also if people want tips of when we might need help with lifts etc it's easy to communicate 😊 Unfortunately I've had a cancer recurrence and we are still in the testing phase to determine what the treatment plan will be. There was definitely a local recurrence of triple negative breast cancer - a small lump which was removed in surgery. A CT & PET showed nodules on my lung and liver. Follow up MRI cleared the liver but the lung is still suspicious. I had an inconclusive biopsy then follow up CT 6 weeks later which shows the lung nodule still there but no progression. Tldr: the lung nodule is triple negative breast cancer, I've got a new care team, having more blood tests and scans and should finally have some options in just over a week. You may be wondering why it's been so long for an update. I have been wondering the same thing. Things were going so slowly and I was reassured that some things just take a long time but it started to seem a bit excessive.  We had an amazing holiday in North Queensland. It was great to take James and the kids there. Even though I was born in Tasmania and lived in WA for the vast majority of my life, Queensland has always felt like home. The smell of the air! The warmth. We were greeted in the Airbnb by a huge huntsman zooming across the walls. Saw koalas, mother and calf humpbacks, amethestine python, stingrays, you name it.
